Empress Of shares ‘Water Water’ video

The lead single from Lorely Rodriguez’s eagerly awaited forthcoming debut now has visuals.

Empress Of has shared the video for ‘Water Water’, which surprisingly features none of the stuff.

Based around a more liquid version of Lorely Rodriguez, the clip - as directed by Zaiba Jabbar and Empress Of herself - sees her performing in her Empress Of guise in a haze of smoke and drained colour. As Rodriguez’s flowing form struggles to keep up with her agitated swaying the backdrop for the video feels uncomfortably dry, driving home the track’s message that water is a privilege not to be taken for granted.

‘Water Water’ is Empress Of’s first new material since 2014’s ‘Realize You’ and the first we’ve heard of her forthcoming debut expected later this year via Terrible Records/XL.

Having already supported the likes of Jamie xx and Jon Hopkins, Empress Of will be performing with Florence and The Machine at two American shows this week, as follows.

JUNE
09 Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD
10 Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, Boston, MA
