Ethel Cain returns with new single ‘Punish’ from forthcoming project ‘Perverts’
The Florida-born artist will release the follow-up to ‘Preacher’s Daughter’ early next year.

Over two years on since the release of her debut, Hayden Anhedönia - aka Ethel Cain - has returned with a first taste of her forthcoming new project.
Am aching slow-burn of a track, ‘Punish’ is the first cut to be lifted from her forthcoming second full-length ‘Perverts’, which she confirmed initial details of on her social media earlier this month. The track also marks her first new music since she gave her standalone track ‘Famous Last Words (An Ode to Eaters)’ an official release last summer. Speaking of the darkly delicate new offering, she has said: “I wonder how deep shame can run, and how unforgivable an act could be that I may still justify it in some bent way to make carrying it more bearable. Would I tell myself it’s not my fault and I couldn’t help myself? Would anyone truly believe that? Would I?”
Written, produced and mixed entirely by Hayden, ‘Perverts’ is due for release on 8th January 2025 and - according to a press release - will she her explore a new “experimental, texture-driven production style”. The record is set to follow on from her 2022 debut ‘Preacher’s Daughter’. “Change, escape and identity are not easy things to navigate,” we said, in our 5-star review, “and ‘Preacher’s Daughter’ is the dark, unsettling, sprawling beauty that comes out of it.”
