Exclusive: Grab A Free Download Of Gary Stewart’s ‘Green’

DIY are offering you an exclusive download of his latest single.

DIY is giving you an exclusive download of the brand new single to come from Gary Stewart, ‘Green’.

In the run up to the release of his EP ‘Year and a Day’, the solo artist is offering the track and has even given us an explanation about what the song’s about.

”Green’ is influenced by the cliche that musicians pick up girls(or guys)while out on the road. The song’s narrative is light-hearted and is underpinned by the music which is best described as a bluegrass kind of folk romp. The middle eight anchors a switch to a more serious lyric; ‘and players they won’t see recompense, for players play upon the fence’ and sets up the last verse, which sees the protagonist embracing a change of outlook. ‘Green’ is essentially a metaphor for envy-envy of people who are content with what they have as opposed to people who live by the adage that ‘the grass is greener on the other side’. Not altogether un-autobigraphical either.’

‘Year and a Day’ is released as a 10’ vinyl, CD and download through Babaganoush Records on the 18th June.
