Join Exit Kid for surreal playtime in the video for ‘Caesar’

The Wiggles are the inspiration behind the clip. Yep.

Years & Years man Emre Türkmen emerged as Exit Kid earlier in the year, and he’s already shared a clutch of tunes from the new, scuzzy project.

Back in May he debuted fuzz cut ‘Caesar’, which now has a new video directed by Joe Baughman. And it’s inspired by The Wiggles. Yep. Cue a lot of lego, soft play, Beanie Babies plasticine abominations with bald doll heads coming to life and fighting a knight. Wait, what? Yes, despite the cutesy nature of the video on the surface, there’s something much more sinister going on here, tying into the theme of the track itself.

Director Joe talked about the making of the clip: “Knowing the song’s subject matter and then drawing from the feelings I had post-election/inauguration, it seemed appropriate to have a child represent the banality and immaturity of the powers that be. It was interesting for me to use the toys from my childhood and I had a lot of fun making visual puns and references with the toys that nobody will get (though hopefully meaning can still be found in it anyway)”.

He continued: “Working with Emre and Dylan is always awesome. It was a blast creating the Wiggles-inspired portion of the video with them because they were open to whatever, had great creative input, and made the work enjoyable. They are beautiful men”.
