Fall Out Boy Discuss Recording With Ryan Adams
Chicago four-piece tell DIY about creating what seems to be a handful of hardcore songs.

This past week, there have been lots of whispers about Fall Out Boy. Not just any whispers though; whispers about a handful of new songs – yes, more new songs! - that the band recorded with Ryan Adams.
Asked about the collaboration, Pete Wentz told DIY: ‘“It was just a casual jamming session!
“One of the things that we realised from our last round of playing music together was that we needed to do things to keep it fresh and fun for ourselves. So, it was just for fun!”
Recorded for fun, yes, but the songs themselves – how many, we’re not so sure of – seem to be an entirely different kettle of fish to their latest work. With influences like Black Flag, Misfits and The Descendents being claimed, it’s only natural to be a little curious as to when they may reach the public domain…
“There is a recording of it, yes, but no, we don’t have a real plan for it yet,” Wentz confirms. “I feel like it was such an analogue idea that we need to put it out in an analogue kind of way. I think that it was such an analogue experience that it needs to be appreciated in that medium, in some way. I dunno! I haven’t thought it through enough. There’s still too much of this stuff going on.”
