Foals "gutted" to cancel South American gigs after doctors order Yannis Philippakis to rest voice

Foals have been forced to cancel their upcoming tour dates in South America after doctors ordered frontman Yannis Philippakis to rest his voice to prevent permanent damage.

“We love nothing more than playing on stage for you, and it’s heartbreaking to have to pull the shows, but sometimes health has to come first,” tweeted Yannis. “We’re gutted, and can’t begin to say how frustrating this is. He also added that the South American shows will be rescheduled for July 2016, though their Mexico show has not yet been confirmed. Foals upcoming UK tour in November will not be affected.

It’s not the first time Yannis has been a little hoarse (geddit?). Last month Foals pulled out of their Radio 1 Live Lounge slot because their frontman sounded like “Phil mitchel [sic] after a tracheostomy.”

Foals play the following UK dates next month.

NOV
12 Glasgow, The SSE Hydro
13 Manchester, Arena
16 London, The SSE Arena, Wembley
19 Birmingham, Barclaycard Arena
20 Leeds, First Direct Arena
