Foals unveil ‘Mountain At My Gates’
Hear the second song to be taken from ‘What Went Down’.
Foals have unveiled the second cut to be lifted from new album ‘What Went Down’.
‘Mountain At My Gates’ showcases the “popper, funkier and more down-tempo” elements of the band’s fourth album, according to frontman Yannis Philippakis. Speaking to Annie Mac, he spoke about how the song quickly came together as part of the band’s boozed-up sessions in Southern France.
The song links up with ‘What Went Down’’s title-track - a ballistic, aggressive mission statement - in previewing the record. Starting in the vein of ‘Miami’ or ‘My Number’ with simple, strutting funk links, it eventually envelops into another berserk cut, stampeding into a frenzied closing section.
Listen to ‘Mountain At My Gates’ below. ‘What Went Down’ is out 28th August.
