Foreign Fields reinvent on ‘I’, taken from a new album
Watch a brilliantly choreographed new video on DIY.
Nashville duo Foreign Fields started out making open-spaced, folk-leaning music. ‘Anywhere But Where I Am’, their gorgeous debut album, remains an unsung gem. But now the pair have sharpened things up, and new song ‘I’ points towards a more refined, pop-oriented direction.
It’s one that works a treat, especially when combined with the group’s new video, streaming below. DIY has the first play of the clip, which combines smart choreography with a twisted narrative, telling dramatic stories through interpretative dance.
Foreign Fields have a new album on the way. It’s called ‘Take Cover’, and it’s due out 28th October via Communion. “While our inspiration had derived heavily in the past from broad natural landscapes and lush dreamy moments this material felt more insular, more direct,” the band say. “We moved our focus away from big, lavish tones into a tighter, more percussive, more constrained sound.”
Watch the ‘I’ video below, which was created in collaboration with the New York Ballet School and directed by Gregory Horoupian.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
