Forthcoming Kurt Cobain documentary will not feature Dave Grohl
‘Montage of Heck’ director confirms there could be something in future.
Brett Morgen, the director of ‘Montage of Heck’ has confirmed that the forthcoming release about Kurt Cobain does not feature Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. The Foo Fighters man’s absence has been explained by Grohl’s lateness for an interview and/or audition. The documentary was premiered this weekend at Sundance Film Festival, with director Morgen stating the following to Billboard:
“We had a locked print and trying to re-edit a film with a new interview in 10 days is kind of difficult. This is the picture I wanted—I didn’t want there to be a lot of people in the film. I hope we’ll see a [Grohl featuring] version sometime.”
‘Montage of Heck’ features Courtney Love, his daughter Frances Bean (who is executive producer), Cobain’s parents and Nirvana member Krist Novoselic. The documentary takes its name from a mixtape that was unearthed last year, recorded by Kurt Cobain prior to his success in Nirvana.
Earlier today, the first image for ‘Montage of Heck’ was revealed online.
