Future Brown share new track ‘Vernáculo’
Their new track comes accompanied by a video which looks more like a beauty advert…
Future Brown are gearing up to release their self-titled debut album on 23rd February, but in the meantime, they’ve showcased a brand new track.
The group, which consists of Fatima Al Qadiri, J-Cush, and Nguzunguzu’s Asthma Maroof and Daniel Pineda, shared their latest musical offering, ‘Vernáculo’, via a new video yesterday.
Commissioned by the Pérez Art Museum Miami, ‘Vernáculo’ sees the band team up with Maluca to produce a fake beauty advert, complete with their very own Future Brown beauty range. The song itself is a heady genre-defying mix of Eastern sounds and punchy rhythms and beats that somehow matches the tone of the clip perfectly.
According to the museum, the video was inspired by “the advertising language of global beauty brands like L’Oreal and Revlon, ‘Vernaculo’ is an exercise in capitalist surrealism.”
Watch the video over on the museum’s website.
‘Future Brown’ gets released on 23rd February through Warp Records, and is set to feature guest spots from Kelela, Sicko Mobb, Maluca, Timberlee and CD Na Tee.
