Future Islands air new 4AD session
See a selection of tracks from ‘Singles’ in a new environment.
Future Islands’ ‘Singles’ is one of the year’s defining albums, a record that’s launched the Baltimore band from hard-grafting unsung heroes to one of the biggest alternative acts going. They just sold out the Roundhouse, for crying out loud. The wheels keep turning. Post-Letterman breakthrough, they keep getting bigger.
But spared from sold out crowds and a lifetime’s supply of hype, they recently visited 4AD’s own London studios to perform a selection of tracks in an exclusive session.
All taken from ‘Singles’, they performed the seminal ‘Seasons (Waiting On You)’, ‘A Song For Our Grandfathers’, ‘Light House’, ‘Doves’ and ‘Sun In The Morning’. Everything’s doused in a hipstamatic red glow, and save for the odd bust-a-move trademark from Samuel T. Herring, it’s a chance to see the band in a completely different environment.
All five clips are streaming in full, below.
