Future Islands release new single, ‘The Chase’
Abbey Road recording was released to coincide with Record Store Day 2015.
Future Islands celebrated Record Store Day by putting out their first new material since 2014 breakthrough album ‘Singles’.
The Baltimore group put out ‘The Chase’, with just one physical copy being sold by Warwickshire’s Seismic Records. It was mastered straight to vinyl at London’s Abbey Road studios last month, midway through Future Islands’ recent tour of the UK.
Mary Anne Hobbs gave the song its first play on her BBC Radio 6 Music show yesterday (18th April) - it’s available to listen to here from 2 hours, 19 minutes. The band’s own Samuel T. Herring also checked in with the station to recall the “totally crazy” and “stressful” experience of putting the track straight to vinyl.

4 Stars
While the music is a little more inward, more reserved, it still carries all the hallmarks of the signature Future Islands sound.
