Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring raps on new Scallops Hotel track, ‘Lavender Chunk’
Alter-ego Hemlock Ernst and milo combine for the latter’s new album ‘Plain Speaking’
Future Islands frontman Samuel T. Herring has contributed a rap to a new single by Scallops Hotel, titled ‘Lavender Chunk’.
It’s not the first time Herring has been recording rap verses. As SPIN pointed out last year, in 2013 Herring produced and recorded a lo-fi video for Time Spent under his Hemlock Ernst alter-ego.
Returning under the same alias, Herring features on Scallops Hotel aka milo’s new track, the first preview of his upcoming album ‘Plain Speaking’, out 4th May via Ruby Yacht/The Order Label. It’s a mellow moonlight track, with the duo feeding off each other’s lackadaisical flow.
Herring shared the track on Future Islands’ Twitter account earlier today (22nd April), stating he “wrote this verse under a bridge in singapore. for real tho.”
