Gaps Unveil ‘When I’m Gone’ Track
A remarkably fully-realised effort, ‘When I’m Gone’ is only Brighton’s Gaps’ fourth song to date.

Where have Gaps been hiding all this time?
When a band emerges with a sound as well-produced, ambitious and fully-realised as this, eyebrows tend to be raised. Our guess is that yes, Gaps might have some kind of crafty five-year-plan that’s been exacted within the last few months, to a T. Or they’ve just been out in the wilderness somewhere, finding themselves, and the songs emerging from their locker are true, spur-of-the-moment classics. Either way, they’re quite magnificent.
Put the hyperbole to one side and you’ve got a track that’s rooted to elements both natural and truly contemporary. On the one hand, ‘When I’m Gone’, like ‘The Void’ which preceded it, could have been written in an isolated cabin somewhere on the South Downs. On the other, its echo-ridden guitars and soaring synths are the work of a band who are making something entirely of its time.
