Getdown Services team up with Mumble Tide for Brian Wilson tribute cover
They’ve paid homage to the late icon with their rendition of a Beach Boys classic, ‘Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)’.

Breakfast Records labelmates Getdown Services and Mumble Tide have joined forces to release a woozy interpretation of ‘Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)’, a cover that they say is their way of honouring the influence and legacy of the late, great Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson.
“I think Brian Wilson is a bit like the north star for depressed musicians who spend too much time their own heads,” Getdown Services’ Josh Law has reflected. “His touch expanded my enjoyment of music forever. He made me realise there are more ways that music can hit you than loud guitar solos. If I hadn’t got into The Beach Boys I don’t think I’d have the same level of conviction to just follow my nose and trust my gut when making music. His music has made me feel as many things as you could hope to feel from music. Cheers Brian!”
Mumble Tide’s Ryan Rogers agrees, noting that “there is something magically indescribable about [Brian’s] writing. Endlessly pushing to create work that defied convention whilst simultaneously adoring pop sensibilities, there is no one comparable.”
An emotive, ethereal take on the beloved ‘Pet Sounds’ cut, this collaborative cover arrives in the wake of Getdown’s latest EP ‘Primordial Slot Machine’ and Mumble Tide’s sophomore album, ‘Might As Well Play Another One’, both of which hit shelves earlier this summer. Hear the dreamy version here:
