Getdown Services gear up for new album ‘Massive Champion’
Leading the charge for the duo’s next LP is lead single ‘I Can’t Die Like That’.

Getdown Services have revealed that their second album, ‘Massive Champion’, will be released on 14th August via Breakfast Records.
The follow up to their 2023 debut ‘Crisps’ (as well as a spate of EPs: 2024’s ‘Crumbs’ and ‘Your Medal’s In The Post’; and 2025’s ‘Primordial Slot Machine’ and ‘Crumbs 2’), the record promises to be another expansion of the irrepressible Bristol duo’s uncynically joyful singular world.
Written between bouts of relentless touring - for which the pair, Josh Law and Ben Sadler, have become renowned - the record has been described by Getdown as a project “about self pity and realising that maybe all of the healing your inner child stuff you hear about isn’t actually total bollocks. Musically and lyrically I think it’s about us trying to clean up our act a bit.”
Kicking off the road to ‘Massive Champion’ is lead single ‘I Can’t Die Like That’, an instant-classic Getdown offering that sees them tackle life’s inevitable end with equal parts astute insight and humour. “We thought it was interesting to think about the ways in which something as straightforward as dying can be difficult. It’s also about clinging on to feelings that comfort you but aren’t necessarily healthy,” they say.
