When I'm 74
Giorgio Moroder announces first solo album in 30 years, featuring Charli XCX, Sia, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue and more
Foxes and Mikky Ekko also feature on the new record, set for release next year
The legendary Giorgio Moroder has announced details of his first solo album in 30 years, with an impressive cast list of collaborators.
The record, titled ’74 Is The New 24’, will be released in the spring of 2015, and features Charli XCX, Sia, Britney Spears, Foxes, Kylie Minogue, Mikky Ekko, Mathew Koma and more.
A video for the title track is available on The Creators Project here. An interview published alongside it sees Moroder credit Daft Punk for his recent return to prominence.
“After [Daft Punk] asked me to be on their record I started to get offers to DJ,” he explains, “which I had never done, and that was a great thing, and then I started to get offers for a deal, and Sony/RCA was the best, so I went with them. And I love so many artists, working on the new video with Jai Lewis, and collaborating with Sia, Kylie Minogue, I met with Lady Gaga, who was terrific, so talented. At my age, in 2014, I was more than happy. And now, between my collaborations and DJing, I love my second career.”
