Glastonbury Festival Gets Granted A New 10-Year Licence

That gives the Eavis family plenty of time to book David Bowie, right?

Glastonbury Festival Gets Granted A New 10-Year Licence

Mendip District Council has granted Glastonbury Festival access to Worthy Farm for another ten years, with organisers being given a new 10-year licence.

The decision was made without being ‘subjected to scrutiny in a public hearing,’ receiving no opposition and allowing Glastonbury more staff on the site until 2024.

Public tickets - currently 135,000 - will stay the same, but passes for performers and staff could rise to 63,000 in ten years.

Hopefully this means we’ll see the likes of Daft Punk, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Prince (all rumoured 2014 headliners who’ve since been ruled out), appearing at the festival.

Arcade Fire are the only confirmed headliners for 2014 so far, with Warpaint, Disclosure, Blondie and Dolly Parton among the names announced by organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.

Glastonbury 2014 takes place between June 25th and 29th.
