Gnarwolves unveil ‘Smoking Kills’ and announce new album
The band will be releasing their self-titled debut album this September.
It’s safe to say that Gnarwolves have been pretty busy boys as of late. Not only are they currently in the midst of a slew of summer festival shows, whilst gearing up to support Blink 182 at an arena over in Prague, the three-piece have now released the first cut from their forthcoming debut album.
Following on from their three previous EPs, the trio have also confirmed that their self-titled full-length is on its way too, with plans for it to land this September.
The first cut, as taken from their first record, arrives in the form of ‘Smoking Kills’, and it comes accompanied with a video filmed around the band’s hometown of Brighton. Showing off more ollies than a level on Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, you can watch the clip and get the first taste of the band’s new material below.
Speaking of the track itself, the band’s guitarist and vocalist Thom Weekshas said: “’Smoking Kills’, on a personal level is about my relationship with my father, but it’s also about the way society demonizes the young. Lyrically, the songs are snapshots of my own neurosis, trying to capture those moments where you stop being rational and become a slave to your own thought process. The moments where you think you’ve completely fucked everything, before you speak to someone and they put life back into perspective.”
Returning to record with Lewis Johns - the man behind the desk on all of their EPs so far - the trio have also confirmed they’ll release ‘Gnarwolves’ this September through Big Scary Monsters / Tangled Talk. The tracklisting reads as follows.
1. Prove It
2. Boneyard
3. Everything You Think You Know
4. Bottle To Bottle
5. Smoking Kills
6. Day Man
7. Hate Me (Don’t Stand Still)
8. Ebb
9. Flow
10. Eat Dynamite, Kid
In the meantime, Gnarwolves will be appearing at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
With Bob Vylan, St Vincent, girl in red, Lizzy McAlpine and more.
