Green Day cancel Bellahouston Park show
The trio have reportedly pulled out of their Scottish show this evening “due to weather”.
Green Day have reportedly cancelled their headline show at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park, which was due to take place this evening (Tuesday 4th July).
According to The Daily Record, the band have pulled out of their Scottish show tonight “due to weather.”
Rancid, Slaves and The Skids were also due to perform alongside the punk trio, who released their latest album ‘Revolution Radio’ last year.
The band have yet to make an official statement - we’ll keep you updated when more news emerges.
UPDATE: PCL Presents’ Twitter account has tweeted a message explaining circumstances. They have written: “We are sorry to inform you that due to adverse weather conditions it is no longer safe for the bands to perform on stage and unfortunately today’s show will be cancelled. Tickets will be refunded from point of purchase within ten working days.”
Tonight’s show was set to follow on from their appearance as part of the British Summer Time gigs, where they played this weekend in London’s Hyde Park. The band also played at Sheffield Arena last night, and have further shows scheduled across mainland Europe - they headline this year’s Mad Cool Festival - this coming weekend.
UPDATE: The band have now shared a statement of their own about the cancellation. They write: “Glasgow, we are very sad to report that our show today at Bellahouston Park has been cancelled. The local Safety Council, production crew, and concert organizers have deemed the stage unsafe for the fans and everyone involved. We are very distraught about this as we are in Glasgow now and were very much looking forward to this show as one of the highlights of our tour.
“We have been playing in extreme weather conditions throughout this European tour, and the last thing we want to do is see a show cancelled. We love our Scottish fans and we don’t care if it’s raining fucking sideways, although the safety of our fans and our crew is always our top priority. We love you Scotland, we love the city of Glasgow and it goes without saying that WE WILL BE BACK!”
Slaves have also scheduled a replacement show, taking place tonight at the city’s ABC2, with support from Baby Strange. Tickets are £10.
