Green Day lead anti-Trump protest at American Music Awards
“No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA”, the trio chanted during their performance.
Last night saw the great and good of the US music industry (plus Drake and Justin Bieber for some north-of-the-border solidarity) congregate at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater for the American Music Awards.
While the fan-voted awards were dominated by that Canadian one-two, the night’s biggest talking point came during Green Day’s performance, where the Californian trio led a protest against president-elect Donald Trump.
“No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA” they chanted mid-‘Bang Bang’, referring directly to Trump’s endorsement by the white supremacist groupTrump’s endorsement by the white supremacist group (and silence about it - despite, you know, having time to call out the cast of a Broadway show for not showing total deference to his choice for VP).
