Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ To Come To Big Screen?

Talks to bring the Broadway musical version of Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ to the big screen have begun.

Universal is currently in negotiations to pick up the film rights, and wants the director of the stage production Michael Mayer on board. Milk writer Dustin Lance Black is in discussions to write the screen play.

The one act musical features songs from Green Day’s record of the same name, plus a few others for good measure. Expanded from the story of the concept album, the show has - on occasion - featured the band’s Billy Joe Armstrong.
