Don't fret
Guitar Hero’s back with The War On Drugs and The Killers on its song list
The newly revamped game will also feature songs by Skrillex. Yep, we don’t really get how that’ll work either.
For a while it looked like Guitar Hero was fast in danger of becoming an heirloom of the past, stashed away until the time arrives for our generation to bore our grandchildren to death with talk of “that guitar game we used to play on Playstation 2.” Don’t fret, though. Along with sister game Rock Hero, Guitar Hero is back, and they’ve re-designed the guitar and everything. Apparently it’ll feel more realistic this way, and less like you’re manically bashing buttons on the microwave.
The game’s creators have promised that the revamped version will have a wider selection of genres, and accordingly it will include songs by The War On Drugs, The Killers, The Black Keys, and Fall Out Boy on the song list. It’ll also include playable Skrillex songs. To be honest we’re not totally sure how that last one’ll work out. The game developers told The Verge, “if it’s got a beat, and it’s got a rhythm, you can make good gameplay out of it.” We’re guessing the Skrillex levels will just be really, really fast.
Also set for inclusion on the new song list are Ed Sheeran, The Lumineers, Green Day, The Rolling Stones, Pierce the Veil, My Chemical Romance, The Blitz Kids, and Gary Clark, Jr.
