Hear Raury and Gucci Mane collaborate on ‘Dead People’
Sound Of nominee appears on a new track.
Talk about two contrasting situations. Gucci Mane remains imprisoned, after being charged with two counts of possession of a firearm in a federal court. Raury, meanwhile, is an Atlanta talent walking into streets paved with gold. Nominated for the BBC Sound Of 2015, next year is his for the taking.
On ‘Dead People’, Raury shifts expectations by delivering one of his strongest rap verses so far. Aspects of his ‘Indigo Child’ project touch on this, but he’s more often than not found pacing around open space with acoustic guitars, or bellowing out charts backed by lush instrumentation. Here, it’s back to basics, delivering with his first foot forward. Further proof if ever it was needed that Raury could go anywhere at will.
