Hear Tame Impala’s first ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’ demo
Every huge song starts somewhere - listen to a rough first take of ‘Lonerism”s standout track.
As the Tame Impala story goes, Kevin Parker spends a good chunk of time inside, alone, making bedroom demos for songs about isolation. Most of these formed the brilliant 2012 LP ‘Lonerism’ and a highlight, ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’, has just emerged in its original demo form.
It’s a tinny, barely-there recording, but what Parker’s just posted gives an insight into just how bare-bones these eventually colossal songs start out as.
Parker was “going through some old shit” and stumbled across the demo, he told fans.

Tame Impala play this year’s T in the Park (11th-13th July) as well as a Manchester Albert Hall show (12th July).
