Hooton Tennis Club & Kagoule to receive PRS Foundation Momentum Funding

Hooton Tennis Club, Kagoule, Flamingods and ESKA are just four of the artists that have been awarded funding from the PRS for Music Foundation and Arts Council England’s Momentum Music Fund.

Today (19th July) eighteen new artists have been announced as part of the Momentum Music Fund, including the likes of Speech Debelle, LIFE, Employed To Serve and This Is The Kit.

It’s also been announced that Arts Council England will contribute a further £1million investment to the fund which will allow for the programme to continue for another two years, while partners Spotify have also extended their partnership until 2018.

The full list of acts that have been confirmed in this round of funding are as follows.

They join the likes of Years & Years - who discuss the impact of their funding here - Spring King, Ghostpoet, Dutch Uncles and The Xcerts, who have all previously been funded.

Speaking on the huge contribution made by Arts Council England, Executive Director of PRS for Music Foundation, Vanessa Reed has said: “Momentum’s impact over the past 3 years demonstrate that this is not only a hugely popular fund, but a transformational one, which is having a positive impact on the careers of over 120 artists. We’re delighted that Arts Council England continues to recognise the importance of this fund for independent music which we’ve been running on their behalf since 2013. Thanks to our shared belief in this partnership and with additional help from Spotify we’re looking forward to encouraging and supporting even more of the country’s diverse and talented artists to reach that next stage of their careers.”

Opening up about Spotify’s further commitment to the fund, Bryan Johnson - Director of Artist Services - has said: “We’re very pleased to confirm our continued support and increased investment into the Momentum Music Fund. Since coming on board a year ago, Spotify has been able to make a significant positive impact on the careers of those artists involved, both through our reward package and also by introducing their music to Spotify’s global audience of highly engaged music fans. We look forward to working closely with this next round of artists and many others to follow.”
