Hooton Tennis Club share ‘Jasper’ track from debut 7” single
Newly signed to Heavenly Recordings, get to know this deadpan Liverpool four-piece.
Hooton Tennis Club are the latest signing to Heavenly Recordings (The Wytches, Kid Wave), striking fast with a track called ‘Jasper’, from their debut 7” release.
Steeped in classical influences, ‘Jasper’ has the attitude of a last limbed, sunken soul and the spirit of a wild awakening. The Liverpool group sing about wasting time in galleries, finding strange truths in the mundane empty hours. Half deadpan and dead-ended, half sharp as a knife, at once they mimic the easeful melodies of Teleman and the emotion-wrung edge of Pavement.
The track’s produced by Bill Ryder Jones, formerly of The Coral. He even let them use the studio in his mum’s house - a lovely gesture.
DIY is premiering ‘Jasper’ below - it’s released alongside ‘Standing Knees’ on 23rd February. Hooton Tennis Club can be seen live at the following dates:
