Human Pet deliver propulsive, jagged thrills on 'II to Infinity'

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Human Pet.

Harking back to a time when East London used to be a mecca for twitchy, post-punk indebted dancefloor infiltrators, Human Pet (also hailing from the hallowed area) deal in the kind of propulsive earworms that are icy yet infectious. Equally influenced, we’re told, by Girl Band and Bloc Party, newie ‘II to Infinity’ neatly lands at the juncture between both. Fidgety and leftfield like the former, but with a certain dose of the ‘Helicopter’s to it as well, it’s an indie disco gem with a brittle core.
