Freebie:
Interpol release new track, ‘What Is What’
Song is available as a free download, post-#Winterpol.
Interpol have unveiled a previously unreleased track, titled ‘What Is What’.
The song’s available on the band’s new website, along with ‘Everything Is Wrong’ from the band’s latest LP ‘El Pintor’. If you typed the words “everything is wrong” in the site, you’re given access to a new free download.
‘What Is What’ arrives alongside a wall mural based around the ‘Everything Is Wrong’ track. It’s designed by Shepard Fairey, who explains the concept:
“The lyrics to “Everything Is Wrong” are open to interpretation, but whether the song is about hard living, relationship failures, wear and tear on the environment, or an empire mentality, regret for poor decisions seems to be the theme. I decided to explore the idea of being complicit in a personal relationship or a relationship with a system that one realizes is unhealthy.”
Last month, Interpol found themselves stuck in a blizzard for three days - plenty of days to coin up new material and interesting concepts like these.
