Baby Dave shares details of new album ‘billy’

Baby Dave - aka SOFT PLAY drummer/vocalist Isaac Holman - has announced that he’ll be dropping his third album under the moniker, ‘billy’, on 1st May.

An unpredictable, unboundaried outlet that Holman has described as “deeply therapeutic”, Baby Dave was introduced to the world via 2022’s ‘Monkey Brain’, before LP2 ‘Different Gravy’ arrived a year later. “I started Baby Dave in lockdown whilst in the throes of a mental breakdown,” he has explained, noting that writing for the project is something he needs to do for his mental wellbeing.

Accordingly, his dance-punk latest single and ‘billy’ opener ‘am i clean???’ explores his experiences of living with OCD - the “illogical compulsions” of which are visually represented in the track’s video by what Holman calls “the fucked up wizard”.

“I have pretty severe ocd. It makes me do things I don’t want to do and think about things I don’t want to think about,” he notes. “It’s torturous. It’s exhausting. At times it’s hilarious. It makes absolutely no sense.”
