Jadu Heart slant funk sideways on ‘Late Night’

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Jadu Heart.

Jadu Heart are a semi-mysterious, ridiculously exciting duo signed to producer Mura Masa’s own label, Anchor Point Records. Their heart-swelling, tropical spin on funk has shades of Jai Paul and Jungle, but there’s an extra spring in the pair’s step.

‘Late Night’ is like trying to wade through broken branches and poisonous frogs in a rainforest. Sweltering guitars nestle up against a swarm of synths, and mournful vocals give the track a dose of reality. It’s taken from a forthcoming EP, with each track landing alongside a video directed by a different artist. ‘Wanderflower’ is due out 9th September.

Catch the duo live at London’s Bermondsey Social Club on 22nd September. They’re off on tour with Mura Masa and Bonzai from 27th September.
