James Blake plans to collaborate with Kanye West on third album

Mercury Prize winner is also collaborating with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

This weekend James Blake played Bonnaroo festival, and backstage at the fest he revealed a few details about his third album.

Claiming that “50% of each song” is complete, he also said “it’s hard to say what will end up on the record.” He revealed potential special guests in Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Kanye West (“sporadically, when he’s around.”

Speaking to Billboard, he said: “I’ve had a completely different life since the first album. I’ve had a lot more freedom since the first album, too,” he continued. “The [album] I’m writing now, I’ve had more focus doing this than I have before. I’m having more fun. It’s hard to say what will end up on the record, but it’s exciting.”

There’s a third special guest artist set to appear on the follow-up to 2013 Mercury Prize winning Lp ‘Overgrown’, but they’re so special that James isn’t ready to divulge their identity just yet.

James Blake plays this year’s Glastonbury Festival (27th-29th June).
