Janelle Monáe Reveals ‘The Electric Lady’ Artwork

A parallel universe description is attached to Monáe’s new artwork / painting.

Last week a star-studded cast was announced for Janelle Monáe’s new ‘Electric Lady’ album (released 9th September in the UK - pre-order). Prince was there. Solange too. Erykah Badu, obviously.

A piece of artwork came out alongside the tracklist announcement but it looked a little like something you’d find in a dodgy DVD market. Turns out it wasn’t the real thing.

‘Electric Lady”s actual artwork comes with a fancy concept. It’s called ‘Cindi Mayweather And Her Sisters Cast A Spell Over the Good City of Metropolis’, apparently ‘Painted in the autumn of 2717 by the Good Citizen Samuel Spratt’ in Monáe’s parallel universe. There are two ‘paintings’, attached with batshit crazy descriptions to boot.

Watch a video of ‘Electric Lady”s artwork being conjured up and see the real thing below.
