Remarkably, sexism and misogyny is still something that female artists have to deal with on a daily basis. When Janelle Monáe was told by a male fan to “stop being so soulful and be sexy,” and to also stop “wearing those dumbass suits,” she wasted no time whatsoever in giving him the takedown that he deserved.

“Sit down. I’m not for male consumption,” she responded to his since-deleted tweet. He simply replied, “yes mam.” Burn.

In other news, Janelle Monáe recently revealed a new collaboration with Jidenna, called ‘Yoga’. It’ll feature on ‘Wondaland Presents THE EEPHUS’, an upcoming compilation EP from Monáe’s Wondaland label. Watch the video for ‘Yoga’ below:
