Janet Weiss announces departure from Sleater-Kinney
The drummer has today announced she’ll be leaving the band ahead of their new album’s release next month.
Janet Weiss has announced her departure from Sleater-Kinney.
The drummer has spoken out on Twitter to announce the news today (Monday 1st July) that she is leaving the trio after 24 years in the band.
Her statement explains: “After intense deliberation and with heavy sadness, I have decided to leave Sleater-Kinney. The band is heading in a new direction and it is time for me to move on.”
The band are due to release their new album ‘The Center Won’t Hold’ on 16th August via Mom + Pop. It’s the band’s first new music since 2015’s ‘No Cities To Love’ and comes produced by St. Vincent.
