Jay Som shares new single ‘Cards On The Table’
The track gets lifted from her forthcoming fourth album ‘Belong’.

LA songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jay Som - aka Melina Duterte - has shared another taste of her forthcoming new album, ‘Belong’. Her latest single, ‘Cards On The Table’, doubles as the third cut to be taken from her fourth studio album, which is set for release on 10th October via Lucky Number.
Speaking about her latest release - which follows on from ‘Float’, which features Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins)’ and ‘A Million Reasons Why’ - Melina has said: “‘Cards On The Table’ is my favourite song on ‘Belong’! It’s about the shifting nature of friendships and how devastating conflict can be in platonic relationships when you feel misunderstood by each other. I think it’s a universal experience to navigate that type of dynamic. It feels like a never-ending cycle of people walking in and out of your life, but it ultimately leads to self-discovery and growth.” The track also features additional vocals from Lexi Vega, of Mini Trees.
Jay Som’s upcoming new album will mark her first full release in six years, following on from 2019’s ‘Anak Ko’. While he record was written, produced, engineered and mixed by Duterte, it also features contributions from other collaborators Joao Gonzalez (of Soft Glas), Mal Hauser (Mk.gee, Illuminati Hotties) and Steph Marziano, the album also includes additional guest vocals from Hayley Williams, as well as Jim and Lexi as mentioned previously.
