Jessica Winter channels Edward Scissorhands in video for introspective new cut ‘Wannabe’

It’s our third preview of her forthcoming debut, ‘My First Album’.

Jessica Winter drops 'Wannabe', the third single from debut record 'My First Album'

Jessica Winter has offered up another taste of ‘My First Album’ (due out on 11th July), and has also dropped a Tim Burton-inspired visualiser to accompany the new track.

Contrary to any Spice Girls-related connotations, ‘Wannabe’ is in fact a stripped-back, introspective number that showcases a more thoughtful side to Winter than previous LP singles ‘L.O.V.E.’ and ‘All I Ever Really Wanted’

“I wrote this song after a lengthy doom scroll,” the alt-pop purveyor has shared. “[I] got bored of feeling less than and the daily comparison.  This song is a friendly reminder to stay in your own lane and to remember you are just as alien as everybody else.”

Alongside the song comes its Roger Spy-directed video, which sees Jessica channel her inner Edward Scissorhands to recreate the 1990 film’s iconic hair-cutting scene. Watch it for yourself here:
