She’s also after more women in rock, full stop.

Joan Jett calls for more women in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Joan Jett knows more than her fair share about rock ’n roll - she loves it, after all - and in an interview with Billboard, ahead of her induction in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she’s called for more women to be invited to join her.

“There should be more women in the Hall of Fame, and more women in rock,” she said. “They’re out there, they just don’t get the notice the pop girls do.”

She also revealed labels rejected her post-Runaways hits, including ‘I Love Rock ’N Roll’, and that she wishes she’d documented more of her, and the band’s career - and that she’s not even begun to consider retirement yet.

The first female performer inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was Aretha Franklin, in 1987. Jett and her Blackhearts are joined by Green Day, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, and Bill Withers in the 2015 list.
