Joel Compass shares new single, ‘Girlfriends’

Curveball of a new single is a big departure from the Londoner’s gloomy, early tracks.

21 year old Londoner Joel Compass has completely flicked a switch with his new single, ‘Girlfriends’. Previously he’d have been found cooing over moody ballads, meeting winter head-first with gloomy productions and the odd surprise collaboration with Pusha T.

‘Girlfriends’ comes from a different planet. Partly riding the coattails of Duke Dumont et al.’s assault on the charts, it’s a glimmering, top 40-ready monster of a single that’s danceable to the extreme.

The track gained its first play last night with Huw Stephens covering for Zane Lowe on Radio 1.
