Jon Hopkins announces new EP, ‘Asleep Versions’
New releases extends takes from his Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Immunity’ LP. Watch a trailer.
Jon Hopkins has announced plans to release a new EP before the end of the year.
‘Asleep Versions’ brings together the quieter, more introspective moments on 2013 LP ‘Immunity’ and stretches them out into what’s meant to be listened to as one 25-minute piece.
The Mercury Prize-nominated album’s title-track is reinterpreted alongside King Creosote, while ‘Breathe This Air’ and ‘Open Eye Signal’ sit alongside a new version of ‘Form By Firelight’, with Blue Hawaii’s Raphaelle Standall guesting on vocals.
Update: You can listen to the ‘Form By Firelight’ rework via Lauren Laverne’s 6Music show here, from the 1:41:00 mark.
A trailer for the EP has been unveiled, below. ‘Immunity’ and ‘Asleep Versions’ are available as a deluxe pre-order here.
Out 10th November, here’s the ‘Asleep Versions’ tracklist:
1. Immunity (with King Creosote)
2. Form By Firelight (With Raphaelle Standell)
3. Breathe This Air (Asleep Version)
4. Open Eye Signal (Asleep Version)
