Julien Baker contemplates Christmas past on ‘Decorated Lawns’

‘Tis the season to be jolly, so here’s a brand new Christmas tune by none other than Julien Baker.

While Baker’s album ‘Sprained Ankle’ might be all about the Memphis singer-songwriter’s struggles, ‘Decorated Lawns’ sees her in a slightly happier, if still reflective mood. Recorded for Punk Talks’ holiday compilation ‘Jingle Yay!’ the track is about Julien moving back in with her parents, and driving around with the one she loved during the Christmas period.

It’s all quite cosy stuff perfect for the festive season. Except for when Julien starts singing about crashing her car into a ditch… It’s not exactly ‘Jingle Bells’ then, but it is a fine alternative to your Christmas staples.
