Listen to the menacing shoegaze of ‘Frank’ from Ireland’s Just Mustard
The band are currently on a UK tour in support of Fontaines DC.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Just Mustard.
Irish five-piece Just Mustard are currently on tour in support of fellow countrymen Fontaines DC around the UK, and their new song gives more than enough reason to head down early.
‘Frank’ is a mesmerising slice of amped-up shoegaze, leading you down dark alleyways with a distinct sense of danger and excitement. All punctuated by the foreboding vocals of Katie Ball, it really is heart-racing stuff.
Large amounts of ‘Frank’ recall the intricacy and way with melody of Warpaint, but there are also elements of Wolf Alice’s most menacing side. All this is just furthered by the track’s glitchy, disorientating video, in which people (and at some points furniture, too) whirl around a room without control.
Watch the ‘Frank’ video below.
View the band’s current tour dates alongside Fontaines DC (and a newly announced London headline show) below. They’ll also play a host of summer festivals.
