Katie Von Schleicher has aired new track ‘Midsummer’

It’s the latest from her upcoming new album ‘Shitty Hits’.

With her new album ‘Shitty Hits’ out on 28th July (that’s next week!), Katie Von Schleicher has shared another taste of what to expect from the (probably not shitty at all) collection.

Following on from ‘Life’s A Lie’ and ‘Sell It Back’, ‘Midsummer’ is another glistening slice of lo-fi, vintage alt-pop that sounds pretty upbeat and positive but is actually, well, pretty dark. “I miss the way you tolerate me” Katie sings, as if pining for a strange sense of mediocrity in her relationship as a lingering sense of toxicity begins to creep in insidiously.

Speaking of the new track, Katie said: “‘Midsummer’ is about recognizing how toxic you might be for another person, beginning to empathize with what effect your behaviour has on them. It’s contrite, but the perspective is persistently selfish, self-indulgent, too. In contrast, I had a really happy time arranging and recording this song; it’s engrossing to sing, jubilant and elemental”.
