Katie Von Schleicher shares a new video for ‘Midsummer’
She’s about the tour the UK with Big Thief.

Back in July, Katie Von Schleicher released her latest album ‘Shitty Hits’, which was much, much closer to being a “hit” and wasn’t at all shitty.
Before its release, she unveiled the track ‘Midsummer’, which at the time she said was “about recognizing how toxic you might be for another person, beginning to empathize with what effect your behaviour has on them. It’s contrite, but the perspective is persistently selfish, self-indulgent, too. In contrast, I had a really happy time arranging and recording this song; it’s engrossing to sing, jubilant and elemental”.
Now the track’s got a new video directed by Matthew Lee Strickland, which sees Katie (wearing a bleach blond, 80s-style wig) pretending to shred guitar on top of a roof and on top of a horse that seems less than impressed, as you do. Talking about the concept, Katie said: “The initial concept sprung from the video for Whitesnake’s “Is This Love.” We’re making fun of the low-concept male rock video format, complete with intolerable guitar shredding, face making and a lovely yet narratively-undeveloped girlfriend. But I think we’re upping the level of absurdity here: we have a horse”.
Throughout November, Katie will be touring the UK alongside Big Thief, while on 22nd November she’s set to head to London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen to play The Great Escape’s First 50. Tickets are on sale now.
