Kaytranada shares edit of Solange’s ‘Cranes in the Sky’

The Montreal musician’s version is a wide-panning, rich-textured jam.

Montreal producer Kaytranada has shared an edit of ‘Cranes in the Sky’ - a song from Solange’s latest album ‘A Seat at the Table’. Originally intended for his own DJ sets, the edit went down so well, he decided to whack it online. “I played it once and everybody wanted it right away,” he explained

Retaining the soul of the original, Kaytranada’s edit heads off in an altogether different direction; think Sigur Rós’ ‘Hoppípolla’ on a midnight outing to an open mic jazz bar, with lashings of funk drums.

Speaking about the possibility of hooking up with Solange for an official remix, he added:”honestly I was gonna wait to see if Solange or her team or whoever works for her would’ve ask me to do an official remix, so if they still want to, i could make it sound better than that version.”

“Ohhhhh, what the hell….” he concluded. “I highly recommend you that new Solange album “A Seat At The Table”. Listen to his edit below.
