Laura Marling and Connan Mockasin are two of the first names to be confirmed for this year’s Meltdown Festival, as curated by Guy Garvey.
This year’s edition of the Southbank Centre event is set to take place from 10th to 19th June, and will also play host to the likes of Robert Plant, The Staves and I Am Kloot.
Alongside performances from an array of artists across the its ten days this year’s programme is also set to feature the ‘one-off concert’ titled The Boat We’re In, as part of Refugee Week, which will see Garvey himself join forces with the Led Zeppelin frontman, Nadine Shah and Nick Mulvey. That show will take place on the final day of the festival, 19th June.
Speaking of the line-up that he’s worked to put together, the Elbow frontman has said: “I’ve not overthought it. I’ve put together a bill I’d love to see and I’ve made sure there’s something for everyone. All time greats that have never been far from the cutting edge, to brand new talent worthy of more attention and some reunions I never thought I’d see. There’s plenty more still to announce but currently, alongside the music, we’ve got poetry and a ton of interactive events, and there is an overarching theme - boats.”
DIY is also proud to be the Official Media Partner for this year’s Meltdown Festival, and we’ll be bringing you all the news and action from the festival.
