Lewis Hamilton wants to be a successful pop star
Formula 1 champion is making a go of it. Idols include Michael Jackson and… Kodaline.
Lewis Hamilton is going from the racing track to making hit tracks of his own.
The F1 world champion, crowned victorious this past weekend, has revealed his ambitions to be a successful pop star.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the 29 year old reveals that aside from racing his Mercedes AMG to pole position, he’s hard at work on a debut album, which promises to be R&B-leaning.
“I have been writing a lot, even on race weeks,” he says. Having built a studio for his pop star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, he’s ended up taking residence. “Now she can hardly get in because I’m always in it,” he jokes.
His favourite artists and biggest inspirations include Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Prince and, err, Kodaline.
“It’s something I’m very passionate about. It keeps me chilled and doing things you love is a good thing,” he says.
“At the moment music is just a hobby, but I’m very serious about it.”
