Listen: Arcade Fire Unveil New Track, ‘Afterlife’
Penultimate track on Arcade Fire’s new album is a stunning preview & a surefire single.

‘Afterlife’ is the second studio cut to emerge from Arcade Fire’s fourth album, ‘Reflektor’.
Following on from the colossal title-track and a ridiculous amount of teasers, videos and whatnot, the record’s penultimate track was picked out in a recent DIY track-by-track review as a standout on ‘Reflektor’.
Last week’s review got a little bit excited: ‘Huge. This is the single, surely. What a song. Swaying from sounding like a heart monitor to Arcade Fire at their most energised (ever), this is a relatively short and sweet conclusion to the band’s journey. It’s been big, dense, often overbearing, but if a song like this can still stand out after 70-odd minutes of unrelenting noise, there’s got to be something very special going on.’
Zane Lowe premiered the song on BBC Radio 1. Via ArcadeFireTube, listen to ‘Afterlife’ below and via Radio 1:
Update: Here’s a new lyric video:
‘Reflektor’ is released on 28th October via Merge.
