Listen: Blueprint Blue Announce Debut EP, Stream ‘The Cabin Is Cold’

is a new project based in London, consisting of Melissa Rigby and Huw Webb (from disbanded band S.C.U.M and the more recent Astral Pattern) and Elliot Hayward. Their debut 12’ EP - out this spring - is released on Italian Beach Babes (Novella, Vision Fortune).

The EP’s led by a free download titled ‘The Cabin Is Cold’. Considering who’s involved, it’s a song that defies expectations. The moodiness of S.C.U.M is nowhere to be found, the floaty abstract synth of Astral Pattern a far cry too. Even the relative staple sound of Italian Beach Babes - that of harsh, excitable rock that suits a cassette format - is shunned, with the band instead opting for a grunge era routine, apparently informed by Neil Young and Crazy Horse in equal measure.
