Listen: Farewell J.R. Shares New Track, ‘Slow Breath’
Cambridge musician lives up to early promise with his latest track.

Cambridge musician Farewell J.R. has been plugging into heart-shredding acoustic numbers like his life depends on it since 2012. At first, he was compared to Bon Iver, given the cabin in the woods look, dusting snow off his shoulders. He’s since moved away from those simple confines, with new song ‘Slow Breath’ proving as much in spades.
‘Remember it was my choice to fall into the sun,’ he sings, words aptly melting away from the foreground. It’s in Farewell J.R.’s knack for making the distinctly complex sound so simple on record that gives him his brownie points. ‘Slow Breath”s eventual, muffled crescendo is a career high-point so far.
